Turmeric is a rhizome like ginger and galangal and the tubes that grow underground are washed, dried and then pulverized in order to turn into the dried, tantalizing orange powder everyone knows so well. Cultivated in the cool, rainy climate of the Meghalaya region of NorthEastern India, Lakadong Turmeric is considered one of Indias crown jewel spices with an earthy aroma and deep flavor. It is renowned for its medicinal properties with curcumin content reaching 7% and higher. Our Lakadong Turmeric is sourced by our partners Hill Wild from small scale farmers who use organic and traditional growing methods dating back generations.
