Blaufränkisch Steillage 2018

Blaufränkisch, also known as "Lemberger" is one of the typical varieties of the württemberg wine region. The vines grow in the steep slopes and terraces of the Neckar valley just above the city of Esslingen. The stone walls made out of sandstone, which is the main soil besides marl, shape the landscape.

Due to the steep slopes the Blaufränkisch Steillage it is 100% handwork. The vines get reduced in yield and are harvested selective by hand. After the classical open barrel fermentation the wine gets stored for about 2-3 years in barrique barrels without racking. Due to the gravity cellar we dont pump the wine so after the barrel storeage we can bottle the wine without filtration.

Blaufränkisch Steillage 2018 is a characterful, full bodied wine with notes of dark red fruits, some tabacco and at the same time he keeps a great fressness.
